Electric lights have replaced conventional means of light like lanterns and candles. However, candle lit dinner is still popular all over the world. Candles have got the special power to set up the mood on events like dinner party, first date, etc. Despite all these, it is quite difficult and annoying to remove the wax spilled over carpet or on your cloths.
Wax from the candles is one of the most difficult stains to remove. But it is not an impossible task either. Read on for simple DIY tips to get rid of hard-to-remove wax stains from your carpets.
Get Ready With The Supplies
First, gather the cleaning supplies you may have to use in order to get rid of wax. You should get some terry cloth towels, a spoon or any other similar dull instrument, and a steam iron. Fill enough water in the flatiron and switch it on. Meanwhile, get the towels and dip them in water for soaking. Squeeze them so that they are damp enough.
Scrape Off The Wax First
Applying heat is a good idea to remove the wax. Nevertheless, don’t forget to scrape off the wax from the surface before you start. Be careful while scraping off the wax from the carpet so that you don’t damage the fabric.
Apply Damp Cloth On The Carpet
Take the damp terry cloth that you have kept ready and place it on the wax spots on the carpet. Now, run the steam iron over the towel slowly. Be careful when you do this. Don’t let the iron touch the carpet but the towel.
The wax melts very fast when heat is applied. In fact, it is not at all necessary to leave the iron on towel there for more than a couple of seconds. When you run the iron on the towel, the wax will melt and fill up the towel in it. You can remove the towel when it is filled with the wax.
Repeat this action until you are done with removing all the wax spots on the carpet. Once done, let the carpet dry up. Be careful not to touch the carpet with the flatiron and wash off the wax from the towels before they dry up.
