You may clean your kitchen floor, cooking vessels, cooking equipments, dishes and the sorts every day. You know that it is important to keep your kitchen spotless. But, what about kitchen exhaust cleaning? How often do you clean the exhaust fan, and duct range hood in your kitchen? Are you under the impression that cleaning these parts is not important? In fact, exhaust fan and range hood are among the central units in your kitchen. Leaving them untouched for long could result in unexpected hazards.
Importance of kitchen exhaust cleaning
Kitchen exhaust and range hood ensure the quality of air in your kitchen. Both these units work hand in hand to get rid of cooking fumes, stems and grease from your kitchen. When these units are left untouched for a long time, they start to collect grease and eventually become non-functional. The result can be dangerous. Cooking fumes and steams stay in the kitchen and cause you to suffocate. Moreover, the collected grease in exhaust fan and range hood is inflammable. They could be ignited at any time, setting your kitchen ablaze.
If you think that it is high time you did a kitchen exhaust cleaning, do it right away. Here are some useful tips to help you.
Ensure that there is enough ventilation in your kitchen. Open all windows.
Check if the range hood fan is plugged. If plugged, unplug it.
Prepare a bucket of boiling water and dilute a cup of ammonia in it.
Take out the mesh of the exhaust fan and sink it in the ammonia-diluted water.
This will loosen the collected grease on the exhaust fan mesh.
Now, take out the exhaust fan after unscrewing the screws that fasten it to the hub.
Make sure that the stove, cooking vessels and dishes are covered well while you remove the exhaust fan from the hub. Immerse the blades into the ammonia-diluted water along with the mesh.
Now clean the stem nozzle. You must be very careful while directing the nozzle. If you are not familiar with it, follow the instructions given in the user manual, which you got when you bought your exhaust fan.
Once the mesh and the blades are soaked, scrub them well. Wipe them well before you put them back.
The above instructions must have helped you in cleaning your kitchen exhaust fan. Make sure that you do kitchen exhaust cleaning at least once in a quarter.
