Sunday chores are a sensitive area for many home keepers. Do more than you are comfortable with, and you feel swamped; do too little and you will want to kick yourself for it the week after. Here are a few tricks used by people who keep their homes spotless without breaking too much of a sweat.
Tell Yourself It Will Be Over Soon
Dusting the house may seem overwhelming before you start, but try telling yourself it is a 10-minute chore. You will be surprised how much cleaner the place can get in that time. It is actually easier to finish dusting most areas after you have started there. It will be over By the time you decide it is taking too long, take a washcloth and run it all over the counters, nightstands, dressers, and shelves.
Put Away That Pile Of Clothes
There is always a pile of clothes lying on top of the dresser or on a chair. It is neater than a mess but technically, it is also the source of it. Put those clothes away, and clean up the closet. This cuts down the time it takes to get dressed.
Clean The Fridge Of Leftovers
If it is a day old and you haven’t eaten it, chances are you are not going to. Don’t let foods, especially meat, go bad in there. Throw it out, or eat it. Start the week with everything ready to go.
Do Some Mental De-Cluttering As Well
Life can bring you stress in many ways, so don’t let home cleaning add to that. Take a moment to sort out your mental state before you start cleaning. Don’t let the tedium or strain get to you. Calm yourself whenever there is a chance, so the work doesn’t seem as bad or as long. You could even set a limit to the time you devote to it each week.
Assume every room is dusty, just that you are not able to see it. Pull up the rugs and if you have family members in the room, get them to move around and out of the way so you can reach all the spots.
Take A Break When You Are Out Of Breath
If you are the kind of person that wants to be done with cleaning up a space in 15 minutes flat, take on one big project daily. Don’t wear yourself out while you are at it. If the list of activities is too long, set it aside and catch your breath.
Figure Out The Most Used Room And Clean There
If you have an office at home that you work out of, then focus your cleaning there. This makes sure you don’t waste time when there is work to be done later. This applies for the kitchen too.
